Shirin Guesthouse at Pantai Cenang on Pulau Langkawi was a lovely place to spend our time whilst on Langkawi. Pantai Cenang is the main tourist area on the island. Here you will find accommodation to suit the smallest to the most extravagant budget.
Shirin Homestay is interesting. The Guesthouse is very welcoming. It is run by a husband and wife team. You deal mainly with Hiroko, the lovely and helpful Japanese “home mum”. Hiroko will go out of her way to ensure you have you have a pleasant stay, making sure you choose the right accommodation for your needs and if she doesn't have room, calling other guesthouses for you. Lovely.
There are quite a few different types of rooms available at Shirin Guesthouse. There are two 3 bedroom villas that can be rented out as one villa or as a room with a shared hot water bathroom, little chalets in a garden setting that looked looked pretty from the outside with air conditioning and cold water showers.
We took a long-term room just out the back from the main common area. Our room was furnished simply with a double bed, little table and chair, hanging space with coat hangers, drawers, ensuite including a hot shower, air conditioner, a fan a kitchenette with all crockery provided, fridge, kettle and toaster. To top it all off we even had our own courtyard with a beautiful garden and seating area.
Expect some quirks when staying at Shirin Guesthouse. The electrics are a little shaky. To turn on the kettle we had to turn off the air conditioner, hot water system and toaster. But this just added to the charm of the place.
Shirin Guesthouse is about 30 seconds walk from the beach right in the middle of the happening hive of Pantai Cenang on Langkawi. Feel free to purchase cheap drinks from the guesthouse (RM 3.00 for a big glass of wine) or bring your own.
We would stay at Shirin Homestay Guesthouse on Pantai Cenang on Langkawi again. Just make sure you buy some mosquito repellant and coils to bring with you. The lush garden surroundings attracts mosquitoes.
