Take in a show
Did you know that over 50 concerts and theatrical performances occur on a daily basis in Vienna? It’s stats like this that demonstrate just why it’s considered Austria’s musical capital and make it more than evident why you should sample one of these fantastic displays.
With such a large number of scheduled performances, there is sure to be something to your tastes. What’s even better is that it doesn’t end with music and theatre – Vienna is also a well known film-capital.
Recently, the city celebrated its annual Vienna Film Ball with Hollywood glamour sweeping across the city and its city hall which hosted the event.
Explore the history
Plenty of history pages have been dedicated to Vienna over the years but undoubtedly one of the most impressive is that which relates to the Habsburgs. Perhaps the most obvious monument to this time is the Imperial Palace Hofburg which lies in the city centre.
A 13th century castle, you can trace more than 700 years of Habsburg empirical rule in this one building. As well as discovering remnants of the past and enjoying a private tour of the Imperial apartments, visitors can also visit the Imperial Crypt, view extensive collections of artwork and visit other attractions on the castle’s grounds which include the Natural History Museum, National Library, National Theatre Museum and a live butterfly park.
See some wildlife
Want to give your holiday a little injection of wildlife? Why not try Schönbrunn Zoo. It’s the oldest existing zoo in Europe so you know there’ll be plenty to enjoy.
Alongside the beautiful surroundings, you’ll also get to see a variety of animals – perfect if you’re holidaying with kids!
Whether it’s the gorgeous polar bears or the giant pandas… you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained at this magnificent site.
