Phetchaburi is a beautiful city about three hours south of Bangkok. Trying to find decent accommodation outside the main tourist areas of Thailand can sometimes prove to be hard. However, at a not so cheap backpacker price of 800 Baht per night, we found the Royal Diamond Hotel.
The hotel is aimed at the local Thai travelers as well as tour buses full of people going from one place to another. The hotel also has a nice outdoor bar area called “D-Bar” that tends to get really happening at about 10pm every night, and a number of function rooms that often hold weddings and work and social functions.
For 800 Baht per night, we got a really large room with an awesome bed, nice pillows and bedding, side tables, a desk, a table, two chairs, wardrobe, mini fridge, a very cheap mini bar and a massive hot shower with a shower curtain!
The rooms were cleaned every day, and the soaps and shampoo and towels were replaced every day. The cleaning staff were lovely too.
The wifi in our rooms worked a treat. We were able to work comfortably, one at the desk, the other at the little table.
Included in our room price was breakfast every day. Some mornings we came down to the foyer to a buffet of mainly Asian style breakfasts and other days we were offered an American Breakfast plate. This was all depending on how many people were staying at the hotel the night before.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Diamond Hotel in Phetchaburi. The staff were lovely, the room comfortable, wifi worked awesomely, room service if you wanted, and a beautiful view out the window.
Oh, they also provide transport in Phetchaburi and around the area like Cha-am and Hua Hin. There were some motorbikes for rent too at 300 Baht for the day. Just ask the helpful front desk staff.
