A Lazy June In Chiang Mai (With Tigers)

June was a fairly quiet month here in Chiang Mai. I'm into the routine of full time work while Tanya is working part time at a language school and doing some uni study.

We finally got on the bike and headed up Doi Suthep, a mountain overlooking Chiang Mai. Near its peak is a large Buddhist temple. It's very beautiful although it's also very busy with lots of both international and Thai tourists.

While at the temple we popped into the International Buddhism Centre. They do meditation retreats there which we'll look into. Tanya previously went to do one at another temple only to have it cancelled at the last minute. This temple is busy enough that that shouldn't be a problem here.

Towards the end of June we had a few friends from Australia come and visit us. It was nice to see some familiar faces. It was also nice to visit them in their fancy hotel. They were only with us for a few days before moving on to Phuket.

Tanya accompanied them to Tiger Kingdom which is at nearby Mae Rim. They met baby, adolescent and adult tigers and took A LOT of photos. Here are some of the best.
