Vang Vieng Accommodation – Phongsavanh Bungalows Review

Phongsavanh Bungalows (Guesthouse) in Vang Vieng, Laos – What a place to stay. It is clean, comfortable, quiet, close enough to all the action but far enough away to not get annoyed at all the noise. A perfect place to stay in Vang Vieng, Laos.

Vang Vieng is famous for tubing down the river. While drinking. A lot. If you are into that sort of thing, then perhaps consider something closer to the action. Phongsavang isn't terribly far away. It's just over the old Vang Vieng Air Field but it is a 5 minute walk to the nearest Friends Bar. If however you like peace and quiet while you're trying to sleep then its perfect.

Phongsavanh Guesthouse is run by a Laotian family and their pets of dogs and chickens. While we were staying there, the family also had help by two English chaps. They acted as go-between people. Very handy when you don't speak much Laotian.

There are many different styles of bungalows on offer, twin / double rooms / bungalows and triple rooms. All offer fan and air conditioning. The prices are very reasonable for both fan and air conditioning. Fan 60,000 Kip to – 100,000 Kip; Air conditioning 100,000 Kip to 130,000 Kip per night.

The room price doesn't include breakfast although a muesli, mixed fruit salad and yoghurt will only set you back 20,000 Kip. If you are wanting to take a packed lunch with you on an outing, a BLT Baguette will cost 15,000 Kip. Bargain. Free filtered water, coffee and tea is provided all day.

Wifi was a but hit and miss in the bungalows. It was there, just not very good. Sometimes we were able to access the internet from our bed, other times we were barely able to while sitting right next to the router. Didn't phase us too much as we could just head into town and hang out at a “Friends Bar” and work there.

We only stayed a few days here at Phongsavanh Guesthouse in Vang Vieng, Laos. In hindsight, we should have stayed a lot longer. The place was relaxing, the town had quite a few good things on offer and our bed was comfortable.
